Colombo does not have one postal code. Colombo city uses codes from 00100 for Colombo 01 to 01500 for Colombo 15, while suburbs such as Nugegoda, Rajagiriya, Battaramulla and Dehiwala have their own five-digit codes.
Sri Lanka officially calls these numbers postcodes or postal codes. If a website asks for a Sri Lanka “zip code”, enter the same five-digit postcode. Keep the first zero in Colombo city codes—for example, enter 00300, not 300, for Colombo 03.
Quick answer: Nugegoda is 10250, Rajagiriya is 10107, Battaramulla is 10120, Dehiwala is 10350, Ratmalana is 10390 and Wellampitiya commonly uses 10600. For Nawala, 10107 is commonly used through Rajagiriya. Always check the delivery post office when a neighbourhood crosses a postal boundary.
Most-searched Colombo suburb postal codes
These are the locations people most often look for on this page. An asterisk marks a neighbourhood that is normally served through the named postal area rather than appearing as a separate main post-office entry in the national directory.

Neighbourhood names do not always match postal-delivery boundaries. Sri Lanka Post advises people not to guess a code when the exact delivery office is uncertain. Check the official Sri Lanka Post postcode guidance or ask the nearest post office before sending important documents or parcels.

How to use a Sri Lanka postcode correctly
- Use the code for the delivery post office or postal town, not simply the nearest large city.
- Write all five digits and preserve a leading zero in Colombo city codes.
- Put the postal town and postcode near the bottom of the address, before “Sri Lanka” for international mail.
- If an online form says “ZIP code”, enter the same Sri Lankan postcode.
- Confirm boundary-area addresses with the nearest post office instead of relying only on the neighbourhood name.
Sri Lanka Post’s mail-addressing guidance says to write the postal town and postcode clearly at the bottom of the address. The Department introduced five-digit postal zoning in 1997 to make sorting more reliable, particularly where places share similar names.
For neighbourhood names and administrative areas, see the separate Colombo suburbs and areas list.
Sources and checking method
This page was checked on 17 July 2026 against the Department of Posts’ postcode guidance and national Post Code Directory. The official directory is the authority for main and sub-post-office codes. Where a popular neighbourhood is not a separate directory entry, the table identifies the postal area commonly used and tells you when the exact delivery office should be confirmed.
